About
Art has always been my first language.
Before I knew what I wanted to be, I knew I wanted to create. Crayons became pencils. Pencils became ink. Ink became paint. By eighth grade, my artwork was already finding its way into the world, helped along by my father, who proudly took on the role of my first art agent.
Then life handed me a detour. At twenty-two, I traded sketchbooks for boardrooms and spent the next two decades building a career in the corporate world. It taught me discipline, strategy, resilience, and how to navigate uncertainty. Looking back, it wasn't a departure from art. It was preparation.
Then cancer arrived. Twice. When life narrows your view that dramatically, the noise falls away. What remains is truth. Surrounded by the unwavering love of my husband, family, and faith, I asked a simple question: "What am I here to do?" The answer came back just as simply: Create. Not someday. Not when it was convenient. Not as a hobby. Fully. Fiercely. Faithfully.
Today, I work primarily in charcoal and oil paint, drawn to their honesty, depth, and ability to reveal what words often cannot. I continue to study and refine my craft, including oil painting under Robert Watkins of Great Barrington, Massachusetts, while remaining endlessly curious about color, composition, and the mystery of making something from nothing.
I don't create to decorate walls. I create to spark memory. To awaken wonder. To remind us of the parts of ourselves we forgot were still there. Somewhere between faith and paint, intuition and technique, discipline and wildness, each piece finds its own voice.
God is my compass. My family are my anchors. Art is the adventure.
If my work helps you pause, smile, remember, or feel a little more alive, then it has done exactly what it was meant to do.
Welcome. Stay awhile.
Thank you,
Carmen Tuohy (2E)

Tell Me What You Can’t Stop Thinking About
Commissioning a piece isn’t just “ordering art,” it’s a collaboration between your story and my charcoal.
It starts with an idea, a feeling, a memory you can’t quite put into words… and ends as something you can hang on a wall and keep coming back to.
I only take on a limited number of commissions at a time so each piece gets the attention it deserves (and honestly, so I don’t rush anything that wants to become itself slowly).
If something is tugging at you, a moment, a person, a feeling you can’t shake... I’d love to hear about it.
Reach out. Let’s see what it becomes.

This gallery presents sold and commissioned art work that reflects my artistic capabilities. A small number of these art works were donated to causes that support food access and cancer patients and their families.
